Privacy and personal data

At the Center for Food Security & Public Health at Iowa State University, USA we take your privacy very seriously. In order to provide access to this service and assess its usefulness, we collect and store some personal information about you.

Minors

Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to access the services provided by this site.  By agreeing to this privacy policy you are also agreeing that you are 16 years of age or older.

What is collected?

Basic profile information is collected from you when you create your account including your full name, email address and any other information you provide.

As you use the site, information about the things you do on the site will be recorded. For example, the site records quizzes you take, the score you earned, and when you collected your certificate.

How is this information used?

This information is used to keep track of your accomplishments on the site (e.g. quiz scores to qualify for a certificate). We also use the aggregated activity information (e.g. what files have been downloaded) to learn what resources are being used. We will use this information to help us improve the site and the resources on the site.

We also use anonymous statistical information about usage of the site in various reports. Your individual information will not be reported, except as part of the statistical information.  For example, there were 15 people who earned a certificate during a specific time period.

Who controls the data and how do I contact them?

How long is my data stored?

At this time we plan to store the data indefinitely.  We want to be able to track trends over time. We anticipate at some point in the future (several years) being able to delete older data.  We will update this policy to reflect that and you will be notified when you log in of the policy change.

How do I request that my personal data be corrected or erased?

You may make corrections to your basic profile information by logging into the site and editing your own profile. If you have questions, or would like any other data to be corrected or erased, please send an email to the Center for Food Security & Public Health at day1@iastate.edu.

How do I request a record of all my personal data that has been collected?

You may request a record of all of the personal data relating to you that has been collected in accordance with this privacy policy. To do so, please send an email to the Center for Food Security & Public Health at day1@iastate.edu.
